Auditions open for first SiSwati and IsiNdebele TV drama

The production team is looking for passionate, aspiring actors and actresses who fluently speak siSwati and isiNdebele to fill the vacant positions of 10 characters.

Mpumalanga’s long-awaited auditions for the Bukhosi TV drama series are finally set to take place on January 15-31.

The production team is looking for passionate, aspiring actors and actresses who fluently speak siSwati and isiNdebele to fill the vacant positions of 10 characters.

“We are looking for passion and talent,” said Delizwe Shabangu, the creator and executive producer of the series. “With Bukhosi, we aim to cultivate new talent and create employment. We aim to showcase tourist attractions in Mpumalanga and make it the place for shooting movies and TV shows, and to support Mpumalanga’s local businesses.” Bukhosi is an African tale about leadership, culture, love, wealth and power.

“It is a television series filmed primarily in siSwati and isiNdebele about a community that still upholds its traditions, culture and way of living in the modern day.

It touches on themes such as love, classism and gender equality, among others. It aims to educate, create awareness and shed light on cultural and mostly royal matters, while at the same time being entertaining.”

Kekeletso Mphuti, former Soul City actress and now the director of Bukhosi, said in order to be part of the cast, one needs to review the character they are auditioning for, their profile and mood, and prepare a short monologue describing the character.

“You choose one character you will be auditioning for and prepare your audition monologue,” explained Mphuthi. “The next step is to record an audition video. Introduce yourself; give us your name, your phone number and the character you are auditioning for. Then record your audition, no longer than two minutes. Upload the audition video and send it to us either on WhatsApp (079-123-1925), to bukhosiauditions@gmail.com or to http://www.bukhosi.net
